Avoid Surgery with Chiropractic

At our office we take pleasure in working with people with Sciatic pain from all around the Woodstock Ga area.  Many of these people are nervous to ask if their sciatic pain will require surgery.   We are happy to answer that in the vast majority of cases, patients do not need surgery for their sciatic pain according to the latest research.  At our office we offer a variety of therapies to combat the root cause of sciatic pain including chiropractic adjustments, decompression, manual therapy, rehab exercises, ultrasound, and electric stimulation.   We take time to put together a specific plan for each individual patients and use a variety of these treatments to get the best results possible.   While some patients may still require surgery we are happy to say this is rare and we promise to do everything we can to get you back on your feet as quick as possible.

Now onto the latest research so you know we aren’t just blowing smoke.   In 2010 a popular surgery for sciatica called microdiscetomy was studied.   80 individuals with sciatica were referred for this operation and forty of these individuals were each placed into two groups.  The first group received the microdiscetomy and the second group received chiropractic care.

Good news is both of these groups saw improvement.   In fact both groups saw the same degree of improvement researchers stated “Participants benefited from spinal manipulation to the same degree as if they underwent surgical intervention.”  Further more 60% of the participation subjects reported they could not find any assistance from other treatment approaches outside of chiropractic or the surgery.

So if you or a friend is suffering from sciatic pain both chiropractic and surgery can be effective but chiropractic is associated with much less risk and much less of a hit on your wallet.   Most conservative sources still agree that surgery should be the last resort for back pain or sciatica.   We would be honored to help you or anyone you know who is suffering from sciatic pain.
